Renishaw’s new XL-80 laser unit and XC-80 compensator

New at Mach 2008XL-80 Laser unitPortability, performance and ease of use describe Renishaw’s new XL-80 laser measurement system, which is significantly smaller and lighter than the established ML10 system. For analysis of high speed systems and small, high frequency movements, maximum linear speed is now 4 m/s with 1 nm resolution, and data capture operates at 50 kHz. System accuracy is ±0.5 ppm over the whole environmental operating range. More details about XL-80 laser measurement.

Calibration service provider works faster & smarter to create more revenue

New at Mach 2008XL-80 set-up on EdelHe’s not an athlete, but Jürgen Emslander has, in one move, considerably improved his performance to be way ahead of the rest of his field. He runs a calibration service company called Geo Tec Messtechnik and has just upgraded to the new Renishaw XL-80 laser calibration system. To minimise time on CNC machines and disruption to client’s production schedule the XL-80 allows short set-up and calibration times. Additionally, automated environmental compensation means no limits on the factory environments in which accurate measurements can take place.

Speed, quality and repeatability are the key

New at Mach 2008Inca - laser with personAt Inca Digital Printers Ltd, Renishaw’s new XL-80 laser system is used for static and dynamic measurements. When building their machines, Inca takes measurements along the length of the main rails – some of them measuring up to 11.5 m – to make sure the chassis is aligned when it arrives from the fabricator. When the machine has been built, powered up and tested, the XL-80 is used to measure the accuracy of the moving machine. Renishaw’s position encoders, with their reputation for ease of installation and set up are used on Inca’s Spyder machines to provide a more precise and faster motion platform with zero mechanical error.
